Rogelio Soto, Day Center Coordinator
"Soto", as he is known here at "802", has been running the Day Center since 2004. He manages the showers, phones, organizes peer counseling and is the first contact at PCEH that most of the men and women see when they walk in. Working in the Day Center is especially important to Soto because he knows what these men and women are going through. For fifteen years, Rogelio was homeless. He draws on his own experience to understand and empower the individuals he meets each day.
Although he had received other job offers, Soto decided to work at PCEH because it offered him a chance to tell his story to other people and to show them that things can get better. He was also drawn to PCEH because it provides immediate services like showers, clothing and phones as well as long term help through peer counseling.
