RobertRobert was living on a rat-infested block in North Philadelphia when his mother contacted SafeHome. Although the rats had not yet made it inside the house, the family could hear them pushing against the door at night. The house had a hole in the ceiling and an unstable foundation. The landlord, who was indifferent to the problems, abruptly announced she was selling. Although Robert's mother had a full-time job with a health services organization, and many members of the household were working, the family couldn't afford the initial costs of moving. They were on the verge of becoming homeless.
SafeHome found Robert and his family a larger house on a clean, safe block in North Philadelphia, paid the first month's rent and security deposit and helped with the bills and furniture. Robert is now 6. He has a stable, loving family and a joyful home. He's an energetic child, he's always smiling, and he loves video games.
