Renee
When Renee and her sisters moved back to Philadelphia from West Virginia, lack of income forced them into the shelter system. Although their mother, Hope, had owned and operated a daycare center, her health had gotten worse and she was no longer able to work. The shelter was so unbearable that Hope rented a house she couldn't afford. She and her daughters were forced to live without furniture. When Hope contacted SafeHome, the family was facing eviction.
Today, the family's income is stable. They were able to stay in their home in South Philadelphia, and Hope is working on improving the neighborhood. In the afternoons, when her daughters are walking home from school, she plays gospel music out the window.
