Outreach

On any given day, dozens of homeless men and women come into the day center at PCEH to make a phone call, check their mail, take a shower, or get new clothes. Unfortunately many of them never make it in the front door, so PCEH goes to them.

Twice a week, Brendan McQuellon takes teams of volunteers to the homeless around the Philadelphia area to provide basic services, information, and sometimes just someone to listen.

“Many of them just want someone to talk to,” Brendan says. “They spend a lot of their day getting ignored and they just need a little human contact.”

Brendan and his volunteers make sure that the homeless men and women they meet know about local shelters, soup kitchens, or any other services they can obtain for free.

“Some of the homeless can’t make it to the day center, so we go to them,” Brendan says. “It’s important to let them know that we’re here and ready to work with them.”
