Welcome to our new, wonderful website! A very special thanks to board members Eric van der Vlugt and Jill Margraff, webmaster Ransom Weaver as well as staff members Kathleen Lewis and Brian McCabe and intern James Hesky for all their brilliance and dedication.
I simply never dreamed that the opening blog of this website would be what follows: the opportunity to actualize the paradigm shift from shelter to housing for Philadelphia’s homeless and Philadelphians living on the brink of homelessness. SafeHome Philadelphia so clearly demonstrates how do-able this is – there is housing and folks can manage their lives when they have a safe and stable place to live and children can “go home and sleep in their own bed”.
Our new president promises transparency in government and seeks the engagement and observations of all of us to the implementation of the Economic Recovery Package. We commit to doing everything within our powers to ensure this golden opportunity for Philadelphians who do not have a place to call “home” becomes reality.
