My name is Rogelio Soto; I am the Coordinator of the day center here at the Philadelphia Committee to End Homelessness. We are located at 802 North Broad Street.
Our day center is open from 6:00am to 2:00pm daily. We are not a half-way house or a shelter that will provide you with a bed and a place to eat and sleep. For those services, we refer you to the City of Philadelphia’s shelter system, or OESS (the Office of Emergency Shelter Services can be reached at 215-686-7150). What we do here is provide to help homeless men and women get on their feet. We provide information on how to find help with detoxification or rehabilitation, we help people get a birth certificate or legal identification, and we assist with resumes and clothing for job interviews. We also provide men only with showers and clothing from 6:00am to 9:00am, Monday through Friday. Our day center stays open until 2:00pm for peer counseling, telephone calls and receiving mail. We also provide up-to-date listings of rooms and apartments, as well as a listing of temporary agencies for employment.
If we are able to help you with anything mentioned above, feel free to stop by 802 North Broad Street, Monday through Friday, from 6:30am to 2:00pm, or call us at the number below.

I suggest that you contact Mark Atwood at Philadelphia Ready Willing & Able which works primarily with homeless men. He can be reached at 215-795-3258 or mawood@doe.org — thank you.
Housing — the heart of the matter — I can’t resist punning that “you hit the nail on the head”! Rental housing is such a disrespected and also exploitive entity in Philadelphia that ideas like yours are so refreshing! I had a fascinating discussion last week with a professor friend who is focusing all her professional energies on rental housing — it’s high value to human beings and low value to politicians. It is simply ignored by the city, and it is life saving to people like the families we work with through our Housing First program. I would really like to sit down and talk with you AFTER I get back from a short vacation to Ireland — sometime after May 13th? My email is pryan@pceh.org THANK YOU.
I am so sorry that I didn’t see you email earlier. Like you, we can’t find any funds available to help you get out of Somerset; frankly, it is ridiculous, but that is about the kindest thing I can say about Philadelphia government.
